Noir Radio Thoughts

Listening to the DS106 Noir-themed radio really made me realize that sound is a critical element of storytelling. I’d definitely like to create a more modern story because I find the overall bigotry sometimes found in older Noir unacceptable. I think it’d be cool to invert some of those conventions, which include sexism and xenophobia. I’d like to feature a female protagonist because it seems like that role is usually filled by a man. I think another cool aspect of modernizing Noir is including modern technology, like texting and websites. So perhaps a story about a hacker who lives in a city apartment and is involved in the online black market? There’s definitely some room for changes, but I think there are lots of ways to modernize the genre while sticking to the themes of drama and crime.
