Week 3: Things We Can See
Week 3 of Noir106 was all about visual projects (specifically photography). I really enjoyed this week because I enjoy working with Photoshop. I did lots of cool stuff and got to see lots of amazing posts from my peers.
1. Daily Creates
I completed the Daily Creates for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and compiled them into a post. My favorite of these was the paper sculpture video, which I think looks especially good because of the fast-motion effect coupled with Jaden Smith’s “Fast.”
2. Blog Changes
I fixed up my blog so that my noir page displays a menu of categories on the left. I really like this addition because it makes my blog a lot easier to look through to find specific posts.
3. Reviewing Noir Visuals and Film Noir
I made a couple of posts regarding my responses to the visual aspects of noir and how these apply to film.
4. Photo Safari
This was a blast. I had a great time taking pictures for my Noir Photo Safari and explaining my reasoning behind each shot.
5. Visual Assignments
I completed various visual assignments, including two relating to my character Ami (What’s In My Bag and Post-it’s) as well as two unrelated assignments (Me and Bae and Poetry Poster).
6. Interaction
I interacted with my peers a good bit more than last week, although I think there’s still room for improvement. I had some tweets back and forth with Spencer throughout the week:
@spencer_cscott Jealous of your Lego abilities

@karahsinzer Smart to speed it up! And I like how your windmill actually spins!
— Spencer Scott (@spencer_cscott) January 31, 2015
Also, I made some comments on some cool posts, including Kassia’s Danger Sign and Cody’s Notes for a Mobster. I replied to some comments on my own blog as well.
Can’t wait to see what next week has in store!
