The Daily Create Assignment for Thursday, January 15 required us to make a FOBOT.
My first thought was, “What the heck does FOBOT stand for?” And my second was, “How on Earth am I going to do this?!”
As most typical college students do on a Thirsty Thursday, I embarked on this mission as valiantly as WALL-E sailed the seas of space to find his EVE. And thus, Burt was born.
Since my roommate had just gone out of town for the weekend and I knew the homesickness would surely settle in like it always does the first week back, I was happy to have a new friend! Not as cute as WALL-E, I must admit, but still pretty adorable [Please excuse the poor quality photo; Burt’s much more handsome in person :)] But I still wondered, what was the point behind this assignment? And also, what’s a FOBOT?!
Well, in my quest to look and comment upon my fellow DS106ers’ works for those coveted participation points, both my questions were answered!
I learned through this simple assignment that there is no limit to creativity, and although I like to think of myself as such, I frequently put limits on what I can create! Digital Storytelling is certainly going to be a quest for me, but those Jewels of Knowledge hidden in the destination that is the End-Of-Semester-Castle will definitely be worth it
