straight down the line

Experience with Photography

To start off, I love photos. My dad has been an active photographer nearly his whole life and growing up around his love of photo taking I have most definitely taken interest in the “sport”. I call it a sport because to me there’s so much that goes into it that people don’t realize. To call it a hobby is ridiculous.

I never used to take many photos mainly because I didn’t have the money to spend on a camera but with the developing technology of smart phones taking photos is a breeze. I am a huge enthusiast of the outdoors whether it be hunting, fishing, any sports, or even just hanging out. Almost all of the photos I have taken are either on the water or in the woods and to me it just doesn’t get more beautiful.

I wouldn’t say that I have a particular approach to taking photos although there are definitely certain things that I try to capture. Whether it be the sunrise or sunset, a bald eagle flying over the water, a deer eating corn next to a tree, a duck landing in the water, or just me holding a fish I take pictures of them all. In taking photos of these I also take photos with the people I do these activities with. I think that falls into the category of capturing feeling or meaning. Spending time outdoors is great but doing it with the people that mean the most to me is even better.

I think that in the future if I look towards the things that I don’t always focus on I will be much happier with my photos. There’s many things in nature that are clear to see and right in front of you although there’s so many things hidden that need to be captured or maybe not captured and leave it up to whoever is looking at the photo to interpret what I was trying to say.

Below I’ve linked a few shots to Flickr that my father has taken and I hope that I can take one day too!
