straight down the line

I thought our story was epic…

My name is Kelsey Roach, and while I spent a greater part of my childhood dealing with the cliché quips about cockroaches, people seemed to smush (pun intended) those jokes before entering middle school. In fact, just recently I had someone ask if my last name was “Roach…like cockroach” and I just stared for a moment. I hadn’t heard that connection since I was about 10. They probably thought I missed the connection with dumbfounded look that spread across my face. But as my page indicates, I am more than just a Roach.

I am a Senior at the University of Mary Washington studying English and Secondary Education. My goal is to eventually teach abroad and move to locations in which I know no one and have no connections.

I have a dog named Kaylee who I probably love more than any person. She is absolutely adorable.

I color code everything. I cannot write in my planner or on my wall calendar unless I have designated colors for different events. I even had teachers in high school who would mess with me and change the color of their Expo markers during lectures just to bother me.

I have an unhealthy obsession with Veronica Mars. I even funded the Kickstarter campaign in order to fund the newly released movie. I have a personalized autographed picture from Jason Dohring, and you can ask my roommate about the major freak out I had when I realized I would be acquiring such valuable material. This also explains the title of my post: “I thought our story was epic…” is an inconic Veronica Mars quote from Logan Echolls in which he confesses his love for Veronica. What can I say? I am a sucker.

My current goal is to read all classics/canonical pieces of literature before I become a high school English teacher, so if you have any recommendations please feel free to let me know!
