Weekly Summary: Week 4
As I said in my audio reflection post, my ideas of radio go no further than Ralphie in “A Christmas Story”, but my experience with sound effects, music, and editing software made me a little more comfortable. I learned a lot from Helen Hanson and realized my favorite show Gotham is a great noir example. Her article also pointed out that sound effects are really dramatized, such as what one expects to hear from a city on screen is very different from a city in real life, and we know that, but we expect convention.
I completed 2 daily creates this week:
Best Buds
Dot!
I did 8 points worth of audio assignments:
Sound Effect Story (3.5 points)
So and So’s Greatest Hits (Still trying to figure out how to share this one) (3 points)
Emotions Through Sound (3 points)
I brainstormed radio show ideas which I’ll probably be adding to throughout the week.
I already had audacity but I hadn’t used it in a very long time so it was nice to get back to it. For a while I was trying to make those mashups like United States of Pop but I think some knowledge of music theory, or music in general is necessary so I gave up on that dream.
