Write Your Way Into History

Today we sat in Congress again for what seems like years deliberating over the idea of independence. Mr. John Adams of Pennsylvania and Mr. Edward Rutledge of South Carolina held the floor for most of the day arguing about what lines should be taken out of Mr. Jefferson’s piece. Mr. Thomas Jefferson of Virginia has composed a beautifully well- written declaration which we intend to present to King George of England. But some of these men just insist on fighting, which will get us no where. Like Mr. Benjamin Franklin said the other day “If we do not hang together, we shall surely hang separately”. But I guess as being the only women here, I am the only one who understands that things and be solved without arguing. Hopefully within a few days we will closer to signing.
